CALENDAR FOR EMPLOYEE-FOCUSED LEADERSHIP

Lufthansa Technik’s goal is clear: Employee-focused leadership is designed to achieve better cooperation among employees.

To reach this goal, LHT has designed an icon in the form of a compass to offer orientation and transparency to the leaders.

The leadership compass contains the required leadership behavior, including not only professional and practical qualifications, but social competencies as well.

To offer leaders a permanent guide, we developed a weekly leadership calendar based on the leadership compass. Each week a leader receives a new thought-provoking idea for their leadership style.

"The LHT-leadership compass describes our expectations regarding employee-focused leadership precisely and practically. Nevertheless, the transferal to the day-to-day work of the leaders is not a simple thing. This presupposes initially keeping the diverse requirements in mind and integrating them into one’s own leadership behavior as a next step.

The leadership guide supports this in an understanding and practical way: We summarize the requirements of the LHT-leadership compass in a weekly desk calendar, which includes scene and questions concerning the subject. This not only supports the memory retention process of our leaders but also the reception of concepts to further develop their leadership style."

INDIVIDUAL SCENES AND THEIR MEANING

Leadership only works in a team!

Leadership is fun and effective. When they cooperate, they will cross the finish line together.

Show interest in each person!

People want to be noticed and respected. If we ignore them and do not offer praise, we will lose loyalty and involvement will also suffer.

Dealing with criticism!

No-one likes being criticized. An overly emotional reaction to criticism can put you in a weak position as a leader and even call into question your authority. Set an example by only criticizing when necessary and always offering constructive criticism.

Work together to find the cause of mistake!

Mistakes are important for improvement. To avoid repeating mistakes, it is necessary to determine the cause of the mistake. Ask your colleagues if they know of the possible causes of mistakes and involve them in the correction process.

Make use of support!

In an unfamiliar and difficult leadership situation (e.g. conflict, addiction, etc.) it is often more effective to seek assistance in the early stage of the problem.

Allocate work fairly!

Leaders often assign additional tasks to their best employees. This can result in an unfair distribution of work in a team and can lead to stress or under-utilization of some individuals, or even cause conflicts within the team.
